OMG I like TOTALLY
did NOT want to see
these kids have sex...

Stephany and I couldn't figure this movie out like at ALL. Okay so I'll just tell you what happens.

There's like maybe a dozen different girls called Aviva. They're only kinda different and the adults are usually the same. Everybody dresses like totally discount department store. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

But I'll tell you what is wrong. Most of the Avivas are like 13 years old... and they have sex! Oh my god. It's so wrong and she even has an abortion. Ewww!

One of the Aviva girls moves in with this super-Christian family of screwed up kids. That part's really scary!

While we were watching Palindromes Stephany is all like "oh my god, whoever made this movie is a total perv-a-holic!" And like she was SOO RIGHT!

It's from that guy Todd Solonz who made Happiness and Welcome to the Dollhouse and other movies Steph won't see cause she's too much of a crybaby (shhh don't tell her I told you that.)

Anyway like this movie's SUPER post-pop and if you watch it you're a total perv.... just like me.

Personally I think Todd Solondz is a genius. And yes, I would say he is a perv. I have seen all of his films. I have yet to see this one. It's not shocking that 13 year olds have sex. It's a reality. Solondz manages to examine the facets of life no one wants to, and do it in such a manner that it makes everyone squirm.

I have risen from the dead to copy-and-paste this great quote from the movie:

Quote:
Mark Wiener: People always end up the way they started out. No one ever changes. They think they do but they don't. If you're the depressed type now that's the way you'll always be. If you're the mindless happy type now, that's the way you'll be when you grow up. You might lose some weight, your face may clear up, get a body tan, breast enlargement, a sex change, it makes no difference. Essentially, from in front, from behind. Whether you're 13 or 50, you will always be the same.

Funny, sad, and true -- just like this movie.
